What wisdom and reality do we need to comprehend about living today in the USA?.
After reading and commenting on a Citizen Tom post titled, The Eloli Party, and the Chicago Tribune article titled, The Absurdity of teachers packing heat, I believe we need to address the issues of reality and wisdom.
Two Comments in the Article
“Then the country can get back to reality-based discussions about how to protect kids, and everybody else, by deterring more disasters”
“Let teachers educate children, and leave the protection of civilians to other professions.”
Present Realities in the USA
The present reality is there are 300 million guns, 20 percent of Americans reported being depressed with potential mental problems, an unknown number of religious fanatic terrorists, some States allowing the sale of the shelves of assault rifles in minutes to anyone who passes a cursory phone call background check that only has records of felons, not mental or juvenile records being checked by government employees, hopefully not comatose when they are contacted by a store and do not work in the same ineffective way the FBI does in Florida, numerous States allowing legalized medical marijuana, an Opium epidemic, people now walking and driving around in drugged and alcoholic states. etc, etc. etc.
King Solomon
Who has woe? Who has sorrow?
Who has contentions? Who has complaining?
Who has wounds without cause?
Who has redness of eyes? (Proverb 23:29)
A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences. (Proverb 22:3)
If the serpent bites before being charmed, there is no profit for the charmer. (Ecclesiastes 10:11)
In My Opinion
Considering todays realities in the USA…..,
If I was a teacher today, I certainly would want to be armed and might add that Teaching Colleges need to start including sharpshooting as a mandatory course.
All police need to have access to automatic weapons to give tthemselves a fighting chance when confronting opponents armed with the same.
Schools need to teach reality, religious morality, and proverbial wisdom instead of idealistic fairy tales and Utopian concepts to increase the odds of them to survive in the USA today.
The best and most pragmatic book to compare reality in the USA today should not be 1984, or The Time Machine. it should be Winning the Wild West.
You Decide
What makes common sense to you to do while politicians continue debating and debating and debating, and in the meantime, innocent people keep dying and dying and dying for no resons at aall other than they lack wisdom and pragmatic reality.
Which article or opinions do you consider to be more absurd or pragmatic?

Instead of guns, arm teachers and concerned citizens with pepper spray, billy clubs and handcuffs to defend themselves with nonlethal force.

Consider the Florida policeman on the grounds, did he act cowardly because he knew his little six shooter was no match for a hundred round automatic weapon.
What’s wrong with even odds in favor of a hero.

It only takes one shot to disable a shooter. We never know how we will react in such a situation.

I agree, it fact the Bible has versus to warn us not to say what we would do, same as when St. Peter denied Jesus Christ three times when he was accused.

Reblogged this on Citizen Tom and commented:
Scatterwisdom has an interesting post. Should teachers carry guns? So long as it is voluntary? Why not?
Because I am absent minded, I have no real desire to carry a gun. If I had to do it, I would manage it somehow, some way, but I don’t want something else to worry about. If I was a teacher and did carry a gun, the odds are extremely low that I would ever need it. See https://m.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/feb/27/schools-safer-today-1990s-study-shootings-says/.
That story links to a research study that shows mass school shootings are incredibly rare events.
So I don’t blame those teachers who don’t want to carry a gun. It is not likely they will ever need one.
If mass shooting at schools are so rare, why are we so worried about mass school shootings?
1. The news media is playing us for fools. They are playing upon our fears and our sympathies for the victims. Ratings drives that sort of thing.
2. The news media is making the latest mass school shooting a gun control event. They are using this mass school shooting to convince our leaders that they have to do “something”, like take our guns from us. Politics drives that sort of thing.
At the same time, if some teachers want to carry guns, I don’t have a problem with it. I am not scared of guns, just homicidal maniacs and one other thing.
The fact the news media keeps trying to stir up the government to help us makes them a very scary bunch. So it is that every now and then I get a powerful urge to ban their first amendment rights. Fortunately for them (and me), I understand that to ban their First Amendment rights I would have stir up the government to help us. Definitely don’t want to do that.
