In the USA, why do we voters keep electing incumbents over, and over, and over, and over again?
The Chicago Tribune Voice of the People article titled, Is this the Illinois voters want?, applies to ever State, and is the main reason why we voter’s get what we get from politicians.
Excerpts
“ In several outings as an election judge, I was appalled by the low voter turnout in the precincts in which I worked — especially for primary elections (where only 19 percent of eligible voters came out to the polls during the last off-year primary in 2014).”
“The process for change begins with primary elections. Please vote! “
King Solomon?
Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest. How long will you lie there, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man” (Proverbs 6:6–11, ESV).
What’s My Point?
Regardless of how many signatures are gathered for term limits, the issue will never be voted to be approved on an election ballot by incumbents in Illinois and most other States,
Incumbents will state that every election gives voters a choice who they want to retain in office.
However, they know the key or root cause why voters keep voting fot the the same people is tied into the low voter turnouts in primary elections.
Why, because the people elected in the primary elections will be the only candidates on the general elections, mainly the same people chosen by political parties to run in a primary election.
And…………savvy incumbent politicians will “load” the odds of winning primary elections by behind the scenes asking shill candidates to run in the primaries against them. This will increase the odds in their favor in low turnout primary elections.
How, it is easy to do when each incumbent has numerous employees he is responsible for selecting them for government jobs, contracts, etc. The result is every family member, friend, will support the incumbent candidate and vote in a primary. This serves to increase the odds of the incumbent to win in low turnout primary elections.
In My Opinion, Who to Blame?
We voters are the Sluggards when we do not vote or show any interest in supporting a primary election candidate.
We all need to become like ants in the primary elections instead of sluggards.
In the very least, if a candidate knocks on your door, spend a few moments listening. Keep your door open instead of using the door hinges in the same way of a Sluggard. HERE.
Then do this, don’t vote for any incumbent you don’t what in office to represent you for whatever reason you have in mind.
You Decide
Will you vote or support any candidate in this years Primary Elections.
If you are a supporter of term limits, should you do what the incumbents advise you to do. Vote them out in the Primaries because whoever wins in the Primaries will be the only candidate in the General Elections.

Rudy I do vote. I am sure you are aware, based on where you are voting that there is much more to it than voting in off-year elections. I live in MN CD4 the largest employers in my district are the state, education and school district, and residents of the area are also most dependent on the government. the most ardent followers of a party to be found for better or worse they vote by endorsement. I pray and am content with my day to day guided the greatest power

Just curious, what can’t affirmative action percentages be equal for every nationality in California?
This listing appears to be skewed in a land with this sacred statement “ all men are created equal”

Reblogged this on Citizen Tom and commented:
Are you a political activist? Are you a government official? Do you pay any attention to politics? Do you even bother to vote? If your answer is no to all those questions, shame on you.
Why should we pay attention to politics? Look at what government does. Is it difficult to figure out why government is important? Yet lots of people take government for granted. When we do that, our leaders take us for granted. Consider.
There are no guarantees. Just because something worked yesterday does not mean it will work tomorrow. When we take our leaders for granted, why should they serve us?
Because of poorly run governments and some outright evil governments, world history is full of wars, famines, genocides, robbery on a grand scale, slavery, and various sordid crimes. That is true even in the USA.
Because we don’t pay attention or bother to participate in politics intelligently, more and more our leaders don’t feel the need to pay any attention to us. That is why for all practical purposes we only have two political parties in the USA. Why only two? The two major parties have conspired to make it difficult for a third party to succeed. They understand how the system works, but we don’t bother to learn. Hence, even though they execute their scheme for excluding third party candidates in plain sight, most of us don’t see it. We don’t even realize there is a problem.
If we want to make certain our leaders work for us, we must make certain we participate in the process and help choose them. That process begins when we nominate them. Therefore, we each have to do our best to participate in primary elections, conventions, firehouse primaries, or whatever means are used to select the nominees of the party we want to win.
What is the election schedule in Virginia? Take a look => https://www.elections.virginia.gov/voter-outreach/upcoming-elections.html. Make sure that you at least research the candidates and vote.

Thanks for the reblog. If only another million concerned voters who emulate the ants, perhaps we will achieve term limits for a lot of sluggard incumbents.
Good luck with your candidate.. i hope you won’t be frustrated with your election primary turnout as I was.after knocking on hundreds of doors for the candidate I tried to support.
