Will the USA in time regret this law?
The Week published an article titled, Why America Will Regret Legalizing Marijuana.
Regret is a powerful sad word, which brings about many similar words and feelings such as anguish, grief, heartache, woe, and other synonyms in a Thesaurus.
The antitheses of regret are wisdom. In a previous post, I replied to a young girl who commented that “experience is the best teacher.” I commented in return, “ experience is one way to learn, however, the best way is to learn wisdom to prevent bad experiences from happening in the first place.”
The subject of this post is to question why we are passing a law that we know is going to cause regret to many users in time. We have medical evidence to prove the use of recreational marijuana will cause regrets to many Americans both users, families, and innocent victims.
Definition of wisdom, Merriam Webster
1a: accumulated philosophical or scientific learning : knowledgeb : ability to discern inner qualities and relationships : insightc : good sense : judgmentd : generally accepted beliefchallenges what has become accepted wisdom among many historians — Robert Darnton
2: a wise attitude, belief, or course of action
3: the teachings of the ancient wise men
Synonym Discussion of Wisdom
sense, common sense, judgment, wisdom mean ability to reach intelligent conclusions. sense implies a reliable ability to judge and decide with soundness, prudence, and intelligence (a choice showing good sense). common sense suggests an average degree of such ability without sophistication or special knowledge (common sense tells me it’s wrong). judgment implies sense tempered and refined by experience, training, and maturity (they relied on her judgment for guidance). wisdom implies sense and judgment far above average (a leader of rare wisdom).
King Solomon, A Time for All Events in Life (Ecclesiastes 3)
3:4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.
If Interested, You Decide
Read the article and decide if you will vote to legalize recreational marijuana in your community?
Keep in mind the story about how the Pied Piper, with the music from his flute, enticed his followers to dance to their demise.
Will you follow the lead of the politicians who are now changing their tune about legalized recreational marijuana?
Will in time, will America have regrets as explained in the article?
Wise or Foolish?
Regards and good will blogging.

I read the article. It is very compelling, particularly in also reading some of the research it cites.
Thanks for continuing to speak the truth.
Be blessed!

Yes, I am sure as medical problems from cannabis use rise there will be a similar response to it as there was to tobacco, there is no way, there will not be problems. I have never learned anything without making mistakes though and I do not support trying to stop any body, including politicians from an erroneous action. Their objectives are always based on intention, their results are ignored and rarely acknowledged. I am for liberty, not government intervention

I suggest reading chapter 3 of Michael Pollan’s book, The Botany of Desire on marijuana. I also suggest examining Portugal’s recent experience with the decriminalization of drugs.

The article is excellent. I did not connect politics with the proposal to legalize marijuana. I associated it with medical reasons for legalization. This is scary. I hope voters read this and act on it by writing to senators.

Personally, I have no qualms about the use of medical marijuana, only recreational use. King Solomon had a proverb about giving wine to a person who is about to die to help his misery.
The use for recreational purpose in a sign of a dying nation, in my opinion.
