Why does God seem only to be brought up by the GOP?
The Chicago Tribune article titled, Heaven knows why God is a GOP issue, is a reprint of a Mike Royco 1992 column he wrote when former President GW Bush who “slammed Democrats for not mentioning God in their platform.”
The purpose of this post is to question the reason for his statement, “Hey if God is a Republican, how come his son was a Jewish liberal?”
King Solomon – Proverbs 1:24-26 When Wisdom Calls Out to You
24Because you refused my call, and no one took outstretched hand 25because you neglected all my counsel, and wanted none of my correction, 25because you neglected all my counsel, and wanted none of my correction, 26in turn I will mock your calamity; I will sneer when terror strikes you, 27when your dread comes like a storm, and your destruction like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish overwhelm you.… 26in turn I will mock your calamity; I will sneer when terror strikes you, 27when your dread comes like a storm, and your destruction like a whirlwind, distress and overwhelm you
What’s My Point?
The above proverbs are the words written by King Solomon to explain what can happen to people who reject the call of the wisdom from God.
In My Opinion,
When I read liberal news columnists today, it sounds to me that perhaps because they reject the wisdom of God, they are now making sounds of their “destruction like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish overwhelm you (them).”
What’s is really wrong is not that the GOP mentions God in politics, rather it is the liberal vanity viewpoint that they are wiser than the Spiritual Wisdom of God.
Perhaps, if more politicians would call out to God to help guide them to make decisions of love and wisdom for our nation, both political parties might get along better than the present display of divisiveness we read and hear about in the news.
Perhaps if both political parties would read up on the wisdom of Solomon, they might hear the call of wisdom, and make the necessary adjustments to govern more wisely that often times results in their losing elections.
You Decide
Do you have any objections to hearing a politician mention God when they seek assistance to help them govern us with the wisdom of his son who Mike Royco described to be a Jewish liberal?

You stated — “Why does God seem only to be brought up by the GOP?”
My response — Because you are most likely a Republican.
When I talk to Democrats they think Republicans are evil and when I talk to Republicans they think Democrats are evil. IMHO, I think both parties are so tied up in politics that they don’t factor in God unless it’s a talking point.
I listen to Democrats talk about God all the time, it sounds the same as Republicans talking about God. They talk about God as if he’s a member of the party that they’re in. They talk about how God supports their goals and their agenda.
If only the Republicans and Democrats talked about the Love of God and then acted like that was the agenda, they were ordered to follow.
Personally, I think the God that the Republicans and Democrats have been talking about all this time is “Money”.
I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do, because I notice it always coincides with their own desires. —- Susan B. Anthony

I may need to stipulate that the “You” is whoever the “You” would bee that makes the statement.
Things can get so combative online that I thought to add more focus to my statement since we are talking about hypothetical third persons that would be making these statements.

On spelling, if I comment more than a few sentences, I will type on my Word app and then copy to comment or reply after checking spelling.
Most bloggers are not too critical of obvious spelling errors, in my opinion.

Great comment Susan B. Anthony.made in my opinion.
However, I am curious about your statement, you listen to Democrats talk about God all the time.”
Perhaps on the issue of immigration, but what about the issue of abortion? Seems Hypocritical if that is what you hear them talk about, in my opinion.
Frankly, I vote for the best candidate in any party regardless of political party.
I voted for Obama in his first run for President but not his second because he turned out to be and empty suit in sticking to his campaign promises to renegotiate NAFTA trade agreements.

My response — I listen to so called Christian Democrats and Republicans talk about abortion and just as before it lacks the love needed to solve the problem. I don’t live in a pretend world where one or the other are heroes, to me they are both the same. Lovers of money and they are both hypercritical when it comes to life.

Sadly, too many politicians meet your descriptions. However, not all. Some even turn out to be hero.
.
I often think term limits might help make it easier for people to serve that want to serve for political offices but cannot because it is very difficult to unseat an incumbent and takes lots of money the way the present election system operates which means many times a candidate needs to sell his soul to special interests in order to raise money to run.
They again, term limits may result in lame ducks toward the end of a politicians second terms.

I would agree that term limits could possibly end this greed that the Republicans and Democrats gorge themselves on daily at the expense of US citizens. But I would add a few other conditions….
2 Year term for all representatives (2 term MAX) congress, president, courts.
No pay once leaving office
Provide them with the exact healthcare package given to public teachers
Tax them the same as middle class
No immunity from prosecution
Anytime the deficit is more than 3% of GDP all sitting members of congress are ineligible for reelection
All members are paid $10 above minimum wage
Make lobbying a federal crime under bribery
Mandatory life long public tax records once you become a sitting member (congress, president, courts.)
Mandatory drug testing for any drug deemed illegal by the law
Must be in the office at work 80% of the time or immediately ineligible for reelection
All children of sitting members must go to local public schools in their district
