Is there a valid reason why President Trump “toots his own horn?”
The Chicago Tribune article titled, Economy Great, but Trump low….., “reports that his controversies keep public approval in the cellar despite boom.”
The purpose of this post is to question the reason why he “toots his own horn,” which is not normally not wise according to King Solomon.
King Solomon
Let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth; an outsider, and not your own lips. (Proverb 27:2)
20 Like one who takes away a garment on a cold day,
or like vinegar poured on a wound,
is one who sings songs to a heavy heart. (Proverb 25:20)
What’s My Point?
If you read the article, it slants a positive occurrence of a good economic report into a negative article about why Trump is not liked.
The other night I changed news commentator channels to listen to the various news slants and it was apparent the different news slants, or propaganda, that is taking place in USA news and news commentators.
And that is there is an apparent agenda of for or against President Trump regardless of his positive or negative results of him being voted to lead our Nation.
In other words, instead of news, all I could envision was a bunch of commentators stipping him, clubbing him, and pouring vinegar on President Trump in a prescribed agenda to sing sad songs to cause voters to have a heavy heart in the next election.
In My Opinion
If you read the proverb, it is very apparent there is “an outsider,” who is not “tooting Trump’s horn,” and that is why he is “tooting his own horn.”
I believe King Solomon’s proverbs would consider President Trump to be a fool for”tooting his own horn” , in a previous post,
However, I explained my personal opinions of why these are not normal times in our Nation in the Source Links of this post.
You Decide
Is there a valid need for Trump to “toot his own horn” because there is no longer any news perspectives that present news reports without a bias slant, hidden political agenda, or even propaganda?
When you vote in the next election, will it be for President Trump’s accomplishments or your heavy heart conditioned from news commentators?
Regards and good will blogging.

Apparently your reference to Trump “violating” those two Proverbs verses .. and looking the other way on said “violation”, is simply yet another religious side-step acceptance of Trump’s moral imperfections (“So what if he doesn’t respect women, is a bully, is a complete liar, and typically violates any number of Commandments on a daily basis… just look at all the GOOD he’s doing!”). Amazing display of Christianity-with-expediency.
But I digress.
Two points here, Rudy.
1. Trump brings on all the “bad” from the press himself. Totally. He’s a poor example of a leader and displays his outlandish un-presidential behavior daily. THAT’s what ticks off the press.. and THAT’s what creates what he perceives as his “enemies”. People dislike him because he has a garbage personality and absolutely no political experience… and proves it constantly.
2. Pretty much any President will take advantage of any economic upswings that might occur in their administrations. Truth is, it generally isn’t valid because most economic changes are slow-moving and are dependent on a wealth of influences. In Trump’s case, just signing some trade decrees, a tax cut, and removing environmental control to let loose manufacturing, doesn’t have an overnight effect.
BUT.. having said all that… I call your attention to this article which explains it all fully, in detail.
https://www.cnn.com/2018/07/27/politics/gdp-fact-check/index.html
Bottom line, all this great economic change he is taking credit for was already in motion during and before the Obama years. Sorry to burst your bubble. If anything, the economy is doing great IN SPITE of what Trump has done.

I agree it takes years to reboot manufacturing.
If you believe everything else is a result of what Obama set in motion, you are correct..
By the way, I know a guy who wants investors to buy the Brooklyn Bridge. Any chance you might be interested. He is guaranteeing a 25 percent return within six weeks. Let me know right away and keep it a secret. He is only offering people who believe that Obama is responsible for the rise in the stock market after he left office.

Don’t you get tired of constantly ragging on Trump? What is the point? What was the alternative? Hillary Clinton? Don’t be silly.
Our news media is so biased it is not funny. Pointing to that CNN link should be a joke, but the sad fact is that you are serious.
Look at the way you are debating. Are you standing for anything or are you just savaging Trump’s reputation?
The fact is we were not educated well. We need to go back and do the homework we should have done 50 years ago. We need to read those historic documents our text books mentioned, but for some reason our teachers never bothered to make required reading.
Would you like to do something besides ragging on Trump? Here is a start. Write down how you believe government is suppose to work. Compare that to what is in the Declaration of Independence. Review how the Constitution implemented the ideals presented by the Declaration. Take the time to read the Federalist Papers, the Framers defense of their work. Then go back and reconsider how you think government is suppose to work. Maybe that will change the way you debate.
Note that the Federalist Papers defended an idea; it was not about destroying the opposition. Similarly, the Anti-Federalist Papers, also worth reading, attacked the structure of the Constitution, not its framers.
Those dead white men were not perfect, but they were serious thinkers.

Rather than pissing and moaning about how idiotic anti-Trumpers are (and not all of them are liberal) because it’s so obvious to you and the rest of his base believe that he has done so wonderful so far (exactly where is that?).. why not ask yourself.. why do so many people.. your biased press, your turncoat republicans, those red state folks that voted for him and have yet to see anything change for themselves.. why is 60% of the country so against him?
Regarding your lamenting that the Declaration or the Constitution represents YOUR definition of what the country needs, and the rest of the nation is just ignoring it all and going off on their own to bring the country to ruin… well… I took care of some of that here….

Yeah! I must concede you have a point. Popularity is god. Nothing is more important. Moreover, historic documents are a pain to read, and our teachers told us all we need to know about them. Besides what did all those savages know in the past? Weren’t they just just a bunch of ignorant bigots, and we are so much better. We have SCIENCE. Didn’t Obama, our teachers, and the news media tell us we are the ones we have been waiting for?
The Bible is a historic document too. Therefore, it can’t be worth reading either. Fortunately, even though it is still a best seller, in most homes it just ornamental. Only a theologician would actually read it. Historic documents are just so difficult. Besides, how could the Bible be worth reading? Doesn’t religion just start wars? If it was important, why did our school teachers just talk around it? Why didn’t somebody make us read it?
Is it truly worth considering that our schools are run by politicians, that the big media is owned by amoral corporations?Surely such people be trusted. If Jesus actually was the most important man who ever lived, sure such people would eagerly tell us all we need to know about Jesus Christ. Isn’t that the sum total of what our life experiences have taught us? Knowledge is easily acquired. The people in charge are the most worthy of our trust.

Rather than being accused as a religious naysayer… I should emphasize what you said.. the Bible is NOT easy reading in spite of the fact that many people around the world gain some measure of inspiration in its content. I dare to suggest that the inspiration comes from scripture already having been interpreted by others over the millennia. When someone goes to reference the Bible for inspiration and/or solace about life they are going to a set of specific verses in a specific chapter that may deal with their immediate quandary in life in which they desire some comfort. Very few.. very few… can honestly say… “Well, I’m reading the Bible this year and I am currently on Nehemiah 3:1-7 and I totally comprehend everything I have read so far.” At best, we receive verses already interpreted for their meaning from our religious leaders or referred to us from others.. metaphors being interpreted already. In some cases, interpretations of similar or same scripture can have a multitude of meanings, depending on who you favor to interpret it.
As you suggest… the Constitution is no different, hence we need the Supreme Court for interpretation.
You observe that why don’t schools teach about the most important person who ever lived, JC. Well, specifically for the reason that not everyone acknowledges Jesus Christ as the most important person who ever lived. Christians believe that… and our schools are not made up of Christians.. . and there is no mention of JC in any of our historical documents anyway. Yes, God is mentioned.. but that’s all.

We need school vouchers to end government control over young minds.
The government has driven up the cost of education funded by taxpayers who have no choice to not pay so they can afford to send their kids to private religious schools anymore. That is unless the parents are in the upper income brackets.
Anything the government funds drives up costs.

I actually respect you, but I still think your reaction to Trump extreme. The problem is that we were indoctrinated to be that way.
Consider what should be obvious. People like you and I are the final arbiters on the Constitution. The Framers intended that Congress, not the President or the Supreme Court, be the most powerful of the three branches. We elect the House of Representatives, and the States were suppose to appoint the Senate. The Framers probably did not anticipate the state legislatures would give up the power to appoint senators. Frankly, I wish they had not.
The Constitution protects the Rights of the People and the States. Look at the 10th Amendment. Then consider the 9th. Then consider that the Constitution is a charter that gives the Federal Government specific powers. When our leaders exceed their authority, we are suppose to point to the Constitution and demand they respect it. Us, not somebody else, and those leaders include the judges on the Supreme Court.
Why has Congress given up so much power to the President and the Supreme Court? Since voting was still a novelty back then, the Framers did not anticipate that people would be more likely to vote against politicians they don’t like (Trump versus Clinton? Which is least offensive? To whom?). When it suits their donors, congressmen and even first term presidents avoid riling voters by passing the buck to judges with lifelong appointments. We are stupid to let them get away with that.
Is Jesus Christ the most important person whoever lived? No doubt about it. Until Jesus’ disciples spread the Gospel, the Bible was a book only the Jews cared about. Because of Jesus, however, Western Civilization adopted the wisdom taught by the Bible as its own.
What the Romans and the Barbarians believed is that might makes right. Christ taught that right make might. That is why our soldiers, for example, don’t behave like savages.

Consider what happened after the invention of the printing press. The Bible was the first published book. The Protestant Reformation resulted from the fact that people could read the Bible, and THEY DID. Many of the people who came to America came to escape religious persecution. Eventually, however, Christians began to notice the Bible says Jesus would not have approved of such persecution. So the conflict stopped. Hence that first right in the First Amendment.
Anyway, I congratulate you on your reading choice. I hope you are enjoying the stories.
Read the easy parts first. Keep in mind that some parts of the Bible explain other parts. Romans and Hebrews, for example, explain the theology.
The prophecies can be quite confusing. Until they are fulfilled, we can only speculate sometimes what they mean. After Jesus was born, the wise men came to Jerusalem and asked about Him. The Jews knew He would be born in Bethlehem (Matthew 2), but they did not do anything. Weird. Yet we are not so different, though we like to think otherwise.
Get yourself some good commentaries. There are quite a few online.
Also note the fact there are multiple translations. Because some are literal, we cannot understand them without a commentary. The Bible was written in another language to another people living in another time. So we don’t readily understand the idiomatic expressions. Fortunately, some translations convert those expressions to modern English. Whether they get it right is sometimes debatable. So it is worth comparing different translations and reading a good commentary.

Well, Tom.. a couple things.
I fully agree.. my reaction to Trump is VERY extreme and I hate it implicitly… and I hate the fact I’ve been pushed into this position. But my position is well-defined, focused, and more than anything, as each day passes, Trump lives up to his ignorance in the sanctity of the office he holds. Here’s the interesting thing about my position on Trump. Tom… I fully understand the who, why, and means for the person he is; it’s behavioral cause and effect mixed with his own personal bastardization of his perception of “getting things done”. That’s HIS excuse. There is NO excuse for anyone assigned as being his base in believing him or in him., or following him as that suggests they are like him… and I personally refuse to believe that many Americans are made from his same misguided and mentally-starved cloth.
You said, “What the Romans and the Barbarians believed is that might makes right. Christ taught that right make might. That is why our soldiers, for example, don’t behave like savages.”
Well… our soldiers have behaved like savages… in every single war we’ve fought. Agreed, generally speaking our soldiers don’t go into battle filled with undisciplined rage and vengeance… but war is a human trait and war brings out the human worst because in war we kill each other, and individually we kill to survive. War itself is the ultimate post traumatic stress and war brings out man’s inhumanity. Don’t glorify it… I don’t care how “holy” it’s meant to be. In a way to me I find war is defined as being the absence of God.

I suppose some people idolize Trump, but his main accomplishments revolve around undoing the messes made by the last administration. Many people, myself among them, were honestly horrified by Obama’s agenda, much of which he hid until his second term. So we appreciate what Trump is doing, and the fact he calls out news media fakery just adds icing to the cake.
As a Christian I don’t expect perfection from Trump. I just thank the Lord his behavior generally brings more dignity to our country than the crap our mass media put out.
Do our soldiers behave like savages? No. Not at all. They fight with fire and fury, but in victory they seek peace, not conquest or retribution.
Have there been exceptions? Nations are composed of men and women. So we can always find something we have done we regret. Most of greatest causes for regret generally followed the election of Democrats. Look it up. Because that party stood for slavery and still obsesses on what devides us, it has brought us much woe.
Anyway, when you speak of Trump, you complain about style, not substance. Don’t care about that.

Doug,
In my opinion, every once in a while, certain people seem to appear in history who are gifted with exceptional talents far advanced from the norms.
For example, Michelangelo, Plato, Edison, etc.
We are fortunate that the men you described as white group of rich guys, etc. were enlightened to bring about the success of the founding of the USA.
When you degrade these with contemporary liberal descriptions, you should consider what could have happened if they were not there at that time and place. Some religious people might believe that their contributions came about from the grace of God.

I didn’t degrade anyone (how were my descriptions “liberal”? Because I don’t worship them?); if anything I acknowledged their humanity and their dedication to their beliefs in the face of being labeled as traitors and hanged… or killed in battle, and, applying their intellectual ability to formulate a bill of rights and rules for a government answering to the people.

We all owe past generations of Americans who contributed to what’s good about America.
There is a lot of great Americans today contributing by just being lawabiiding hardworking and unsung heroes despite all the negative news we read and hear, in my opinion.

Yes. I agree the divide is sad to witness.
Hopefully, over time, wisdom will prevail and lead to positive results of the issues.
It is what I pray will happen. Prayer and writing seem to comfort me to hope for a the best in time to result.
You are wise to stop watching the news if it upsets you. Life is short, we need to focus on the positives in life, there are many more good things than bad in life, we never hear about in the news.

It’s a sad state as I told another blogger. I can always lean on my boyfriend to tell me what’s going on in the news. But, he’s upset a lot, and I just don’t see the appeal. I watched the news all the time for the longest time, but it’s the same old story now.
