In my opinion, this writer gives a common-sense opinion about drug legalization of opioids.
We read in the news about the pros and cons of drug legalization will add tax revenues, reduce crime, by legalizing drugs. Marijuana proponents claim it is harmless and not a bridge to drug addiction.
There are no medical experts who will deny opioids are non-addictive and/or a possible bridge to a heroin addiction that I ever read or heard.. Yet there are proponents that legalizing drugs is a matter of personal choice and rights of individuals.

King Solomon
Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom, and also of madness and folly, but I learned that this, too, is a chasing after the wind. (Ecclesiastes 1:17)
In My Opinion
Anyone who studied Marketing will come to the realization that the USA probably has the most talented advertising and marketing agents in the world. If they are hired to promote the legalization of drugs, same as they did in the past with cigarettes, legalizing drugs will epitomize King Solomon’s Ecclesiastes two words, Madness and Folly.
One ploy of skilled marketing people is to use word association methods. Perhaps the next time you read or hear a proponent of legalizing heroin or any drugs, think MADNESS and FOLLY.
You Decide
Will Legislators you vote for make wise, common sense decisions on the legalization of drugs, or go for the immediately added tax revenues regardless of the future medical, welfare, and misery costs that will surely result in time with an increase of drug addiction in the USA?
Madness and Folly or Common Sense Wisdom?

Many opiods are currently legal. Some are not. Wisdom would seem to suggest that whether they are legal or not, we have a moral and spiritual problem. We ought to focus attention on that, I think.
Blessings!

I have know some drug addicts. They are consumed with only thought every waking moment in their day or life, it is their next fix.
Sadly.
Moral and spiritual thoughts are only on the minds of the Spiritual wise, not the fools, in my opinion.
Gladly

Hmmm. Consider “Keith Alexander spent nearly a decade homeless on the streets of Toronto as a drug addict. After spending time in and out of jail and substance abuse recovery programs, a moment of clarity made Keith realize that he needed to find peace, accept Jesus and get help if he ever hoped to recover. His relationship with Jesus has freed him from drug abuse and a lifetime of sexual immorality.”

Miracles do happen, yes. but rarely with opioid addicts. Their rate of recidivism is 91 percent. I’m not sure if death is included in a recitative rate.
Sad. Wish Government would tell the facts on recitisium of opioids, but they wont because they do not want to stigmatize an addict.
Pray for miracles for both addicts and our nation. We badly need prayers and miracles.

Don’t have a good solution for this problem. Very difficult to protect people foolish enough to do drugs. Nearly impossible to protect people who are already doing drugs.
We need to teach our children as much wisdom as we can when they are still young. That requires parents to understand and honestly accept truths they already know. Their children will not learn wisdom in schools run by power seeking politicians. The mass media is just trying to separate us from our money by selling us stuff we don’t need. Wisdom is something we must learn from people who love us.

Tom,
I agree with wisdom being taught best, by people who love them.
However, I remember well in my youth being in a group and witnessing peer pressures to engage in fun, that was really folly.
Drugs are more additive than alcohol. The recidivism ate of a opium addict compared to an alcohol is not very good and is very sad for both a child and person to experience in a family.
We only get one life to live and unfortunately when we are young we are not very wise sometimes.

We are fallen creatures. Some of us will do stupid and evil things. Still, we can work to build stronger families, Christian communities that strengthen families.
