The Purpose of This Post

Is to compare the wisdom or folly of political promises being made in the news by incurable romantic politicians’ imaginary visions instead of pragmatic facts based on economic reality,

King Solomon

The wise store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool invites ruin. (Proverb 10:14)

Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words. (Proverb 23:9)

Victor Hugo

“What matters deafness of the ear, when the mind hears? The one true deafness, the incurable deafness, is that of the mind.”

What’s My Point?

Both men could easily be described to be “incurable romantics” based on the folly of the numbers and influences of women in their lives. However, both men displayed wisdom in regards to their profound and prolific philosophical writings during their lifetimes.

King Solomon was considered the wisest man in the world according to the Bible. Victor Hugo was beloved in France for his romantic and compassionate novels such as Les Misérables, written during the Romantic Movement era in history.

Their above sayings appear to prove that both men encountered, observed, and discerned at some time people who could hear but not listen. The implication being that they considered these people as fools incapable to gather knowledge necessary to discern wise choices because their minds were closed to understanding the potential folly of their choices or goals.

My point is that the USA presently owes 22 trillion dollars of National Debt and in time the interest payments will exceed tax revenues. In spite of the present massive debt, politicians are proposing new social and environmental programs benefits that will add additional, even massive amounts to the National Debt.

In other words, we have politicians who are not pragmatic. They are instead incurable romantics proposing idealist, imaginary, unrealistic visionary plans bearing no relationship to affordability even if the wealthiest in our country paid 90 percent tax brackets.

The above Proverb implies a warning that people who do not hear and discern may result in their ruin over time. However, conversely. in my opinion, based on the present National Debt, it might by wise not to hear promises being made by incurable romantics.

You Decide

Will you vote for a pragmatic or romantic politician visionary in 2020?

If you choose an incurable romantic political candidate, would it be wise to ask them to reveal how they propose to pay for their imaginary romantic visions?

Will any of them even hear or listen to any question how they propose to pay down the National Debt?

Conversely, would it be better if we voters just close our ears and minds when an incurable romantic politician attempts to romance us with promises that bear no relationship to pragmatic reality to prevent economic ruin of our Republic, and/or more or less Miserableness for our posterity?
