Who to blame for the high fatalities of old and poor? Was it because of the absences of Medicare for All, socialism vs. capitalism, or was it something else that was lacking in the USA?
The Chicago Tribune reported that the highest percentage of COVID-19 fatalities are either elderly, (BOOMERS) or poor. Also, the sad news that the wife of the man who stepped on the moon wife died of Covid-19 at 100 years of age in a nursing home
A Newsweek article report an opinion blames the lack of Medicare for All as the core reason and capitalism of American hospitals benefits the rich, and socialized medicine benefits the poor.
The Purpose of This Post Series
Is to relate an ancient wisdom proverb to the real reason and who should be blamed. Is the reason why when people are laid off from their jobs, they lose both their livelihood and their health insurance? Or, who to blame and how to help remedy in the future, in my opinion?
The rich man’s wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty (Proverb 10:15)
Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, not the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them. (Ecclesiastes 12:1)
What’s My Point?
The above proverb brings to light that during this pandemic that wealth helps to promote security in life better than being poor. Living in a wealthy area behind privacy barriers is safer than living in a housing project. Living in more spacious areas and less crowded private homes during a quarantine is safer than in a crowded, poor or rich household or nursing home.
The Ecclesiastes verse reminds us that there is a difference in living when you are young vs. when we are old. The verse advises us to live a righteous full life when we are young because when we are old, the pleasures of life diminish. Ecclesiastes Chapter 12 describes some of the ailment that occur in old age such as grindings, (teeth) are fewer, and light (sight) is dement, etc. etc.
And in relation to COVID-19, is more deadly because it attacks the lungs which diminish in strength and capacity in old age.
In My Opinion
While describing COVID- 19 as the “boomer remover” is “Callous, heartless, yes. But humor is often used as a means of coming to terms with the less happy aspects of our existence.”
Sadly, according to the news reports and opinion, the term is in essence in relation to the pandemic both factual and the truthful. The elderly and the poor are being affected more than the rich or young.
In My Next Post
