Interested in how defining the police was practiced by King Solomon?
The Chicago Tribune article titled, Activists call to defund police is a confusing message which could backfire, reported a writer’s views and this following statement.
“In that sense, “defund the police” translates to a demand to stop using tax dollars to pay the salaries of officers and other considerable expenses of conventional law enforcement”
Another article titled: They want fundamental change, reported this following statement.
“Meanwhile, Pritzker announced the state is urging insurance companies to expedite claims for businesses damaged in the looting……….”
The Purpose of This Post
Is to relate how this same idea was used in ancient Israel by the wise King Solomon.
What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 1:9)
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. (Proverb 9:10)
“Solomon, how does allowing avengers to settle domestic matters bring about order in your community? I would surmise that the result of revenge as a remedy for family feuds that spew hatred would only serve to increase more revengeful actions.”
“Bilqis, you may be right, however, we have no way of knowing for certain. On the other hand, because we understand all domestic acts against their neighbors are subject to family revenge rather than courts, an Israelite will think twice before committing any offense against a neighbor.”
What’s My Point?
In ancient Israel, it was believed the laws of God were to be taught by parents to maintain the fear of the lord to enforce human social behavior
Judgements made by King Solomon were mainly to settle disagreement that arose among the people when the broke the laws of God. If someone harmed someone else, and punishment was judged warranted, a person was punished by either being whipped, instead of jailed, or were made to pay restitution for the harmful action was enforced on the guilty party.
However, if someone murdered someone it was acceptable for the family of the murdered person to avenge the unjust killing of an innocent person.
My point is that there were no large-scale police departments as in our contemporary times.
In My Opinion
The USA is a secular nation. Children are not taught the laws or the fear of God.
if you live in a high crime area, the cost to buy groceries, goods and services are going to cost a lot more;
That is because the store owner will have to pay for a private guard and higher insurance instead of the costs being paid or amortized across the spectrum of society by taxpayers.
The opposite will occur in less crime areas.
An using Chicago as an example of killings, the majority of killings are related to gang revenge and a large segment of society having never been taught to understand”
In my opinion the core reason for the high crime statistics in the USA is because most parents have no choice financially but to send their kids to public schools instead of private schools to be taught the fear of the Lord.
For example, compare the crime statistics in an Amish community to Chicago.

Defund the police in a secular society, wise or foolish.
Allow parents school choice of school-vouchers, wise or foolish.
Will Defunding police in a secular society backfire?
When will we wise up as a society and understand the folly of not teaching morality of the wisdom and love instruction in the Bible to avoid making the same mistakes of past generations over and over and over again?
Would more morality equate to less need for police?
