What is the missing wisdom element that led to the death of George Floyd and a host of many other groups of men?
The Chicago Tribune articles titled, ‘Defund the police’ when cops don’t police themselves, contained this statement.
“What people see is this: the police not effectively policing themselves.”
The Purpose of This Post
Is to relate an ancient proverb as to the most probable root reason which applies not only to police unions but to all unions or societies of humans
The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe. (Proverb 29:25)
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
a fear of losing the favour and friendship of men, of not having honour and applause from them; and a fear of their reproaches and reviling; of the wrath of men, of persecution from them, and of sufferings by them, even death itself;
but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe;
What’s My Point?
King Solomon observed the reason and Aristotle labeled the lacking element in men to make choices who or what to fear in life.
Anyone who ever experienced supervising union members knows, in my opinion, that less than 5 percent the members are the bad apples which cause the most problems for supervisors. The balance of 95 percent knows who the union troublemakers are and are in fear of losing favor of “the favor and friendship,” and protection of their jobs.
Aristotle identified the missing element in men that separates a man from another as being a virtuous man vs. one who is sinful or lacking virtue.
King Solomon final conclusion about life is wiseman will choose to fear God instead of man.
My point is in our society, we do not teach wisdom or either King Solomon or Aristotle in our public secular schools. In other words, unions of men fall prey to this proverb advice because they have never been taught to fear God and not man.
In My Opinion’
King Solomon and Aristotle teachings have been available for thousands of years, yet in my opinion, the concept of teaching wisdom, love, in the Bible which lead to living a virtuous life is the result we now are experiencing in our contemporary time.
For example, there are no statistics available to determine how many men or women who have been convicted and jailed were taught is public vs private religious schools.
I wonder how many secular school high school graduates even know about the teachings of either King Solomon or Aristotle?

If you were a supervisor and had a choice, whould you prefer supervision a virtuous man over a sinful on lacking in virtue man?
Would school choice or school vouchers reduce the number of incarcerations in the USA?
Would a virtuous man choose to fear God and even suffer the penalty of persecution by fellow union members or any other members of a societal union.
