Is it wise for Illinois Democrat leaders to spurn the Presidents offer of help to reduce shootings in predominantly Black neighborhoods in Chicago?
The Chicago Tribune headline titled: Another Deadly Weekend, and an editorial titled: As Chicago Children Die, Trump and Lightfoot Spar rather than collaborate, reported the following letter offer made:
“Which brings us back to Trumps letter”. (link below)
The Purpose of This Post
Is to relate two ancient wisdom verses to political leaders offer and responses to President Trump’s offer to help in Chicago.
King Solomon
When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan. (Proverb 29:2)
Excerpt
When the righteous are in authority, Or “are increased” (g); either in number or in riches, or in power and dominion; are set in high places, and have the exercise of civil government and the execution of the laws in their hands; for the protection of good men in their civil and religious privileges, and for the punishment of evil men; for the encouraging of all that is good, and for the discouraging of everything that is bad;
What’s My Point?
The response from Pritzker and Lightfoot was to speak out loudly and attack Trump on his handling Covid, a different matter not related to the shootings.
Is it because Pritzker and Lightfoot are concerned his ‘caveat’ offer might make matters better, or worse in Chicago?
“If you are interested, I am willing to ask members of my Cabinet to meet with you and help devise a plan to make Chicago safe, since a successful formula has escaped both you and your predecessors,” he (Trump) added.”
My point is to agree with the Chicago Tribune editorial,
“As children die, the Democrat politicians should hear more than Trump’s insults, they should hear the fuselage of bullets and the anguished cries of citizens calling for help.”.
In My Opinion
Pritzker and Lightfoot should accept Trump’s offer because if it works it might help reduce the shootings.
The above proverb is not intended to imply either Lightfoot or Pritzker are wicked rulers.
The intention is to make Mayor Lightfoot and Governor Pritzker aware that the wicked, not them are as the Excerpt states “are in the high places” in the streets and neighborhoods where the shootings are occurring.
To refuse help for political partisanship is a mistake in my opinion for the reasons explained int eh Chicago Tribune editorial.

You Decide
What has bringing up Covid have to do with shootings in Chicago?
Would accepting Trumps offer to help or harm Blacks from becoming victims of shootings in the present?
Would School choice or school vouchers asked for by Black parents help reduce shootings in the future?

Various polls have suggested that President Donald J. Trump has an opportunity to get significant portion of the black vote. Why? Trump is actually doing something good for everyone, including blacks. Instead of accumulating power and influence, Trump is trying to make our government work. That includes maintaining law and order.
You want to help your country? Then contact your elected officials, especially Republicans, and insist that they back our president.
We are in the midst of a historic struggle over the future of America. If we want to preserve our republic, we must do what every generation of Americans has had to do. We must study what previous generations have accomplished, and we must beg our Creator for the wisdom to keep and protect the best of their work.

Tom,
Thanks for the reblog and comments.
Sadly, neither Trump nor Republicans are very popular in the Chicago area with the largest population in the State.
I have no understanding why he is hated by many Black reporters and governing officials in Chicago area.
Politics in Illinois is driven most by government jobs and unions. Illinois has the most State governing units in the nation,

Very difficult to win an election over an incumbent in Illinois when politicians have influence related to jobs and a tradition of low voter turnouts in local elections.

Why do Black reporters and governing officials hate Trump? To some extent they believe their own propaganda. Mostly? Trump is an outsider. He is a threat to the status quo, and these are people who are invested in the status quo.
The notion that blacks represent some kind of special homogenous group is untrue. When the slave ships went to Africa to buy slaves, they bought those slaves from blacks. The various black tribes were at war and the captured became slaves. Cultural divisions matter more than the so-called racial ones.
Relatively wealthy people generally want to preserve the status quo. They see themselves as a special, highly deserving group benefiting from the status quo. That is why poor, backward countries can be so difficult to reform. That is why the South would not give up its slaves. Genuine reform by definition threatens the existing power structure.
In spite of all the blather, Liberal Democrats want nothing to do with hope and change. Liberal Democrat politicians just want more money, influence, and power.

Tom,
Like I said, I do not understand why Blacks support Democrats in Chicago for the last 100 years.
Not sure it relates to fear of change. I am sure that the influence of religion in the USA for all ethic backgrounds is on a downward trend because only the rich can afford to send kids to private religious schools.
In Chicago, Catholic schools keep closing in both poor and middle-class neighborhoods mainly because people cannot afford to pay higher and higher home taxes, same as rent keeps increasing to pay two tuition for both public and secular schools.
While at the same time blacks keep asking for school choice or school vouchers, the Black reporters keep ignoring the issuer.
Perhaps because Blacks reporters have never experienced being taught in private religious school?
Thanks for your comment which I will write about the above in my next post. Today I wrote about the gangs, guns, and drugs issues which the Blacks are experiencing in Chicago, one of the flagships the bastion cities of Democrat and Liberal politics in the Nation supported by Black voters.

Good post Scattered. I actually do think politicians like Lightfoot and Pritzker are doing evil in their refusal to put ideology aside for the betterment of the people they are supposed to be governing responsibly. Most of the Democratic Party today suffers from this I’m afraid and so much more chaos lays ahead.

Tricia,
Thanks for your comment.
Sadly, I really doubt the Dems in Illinois will take up Trump’s offer because the game plan is to make Trump look bad in hopes of winning the 2020 election.
If he would succeed in restoring order, it would be more than the Dems can bear.
As for the shooting victims, they are collateral damage in the Dems eyes or a necessary price to pay in order to win the White House in 2020, in my opinion.
Why else would they refuse help at no cost and perhaps more “Fed money to support their recommendation that makes any sense?
