Interested in two unusual short stories to illustrate the tenderness of a mother’s love?
The Bible story of how King Solomon determined the real mother in a dispute of two women claiming a living child as their own has been told over time as an example of mother’s love for their child.
However, the King Solomon story contained the use of a cruel sword being used to illustrate a mother’s tender love.
To modify a sermon on Mother’s Day to make the King Solomon story more tender began with this opening statement.,
“I have often told the kids: “If you ever get lost in a crowd and separated from us, there is one thing that you must do. You find a mother with children or pushing a stroller and you go ask her to help you find your mother and 99% of the time, you’ll be safe and OK.” Why? There is great safety in a mother’s love.”
The Purpose of This Post
Is to provide another aspect to the stories to relate a King Solomon proverb in an unusual example of what can happen when a mother teaches a child “the way they should go” when they are young.
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it. (Proverb 22:6)
