Which of the two fears would you choose that would over time result in less shootings in Chicago?

The Chicago Tribune article titled, Pastors, murder victims’ families ask Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Fox for robust witness protection program, reported why they are requesting the need.

“One of the biggest deterrents of somebody shooting, is knowing you’re going to get caught,” said the Rev. Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina Catholic Church.

The Purpose of This Post

Is to relate an ancient wisdom proverb to the two types of fears about the comment “is knowing you’re going to get caught” by the police or fear of God, would serve to be a more effective to reduce shootings over time.

King Solomon

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. (Proverb 9:10)

What’s My Point?

Having more guns available is certainly a factor to Chicago shootings, However, guns are just as available in other parts of the Nation that have far less shooting statistics.

Both love and fear are the two most significant motivators of human behavior according to ancient Bible teachings and modern contemporary psychology. If Father Michael Pfleger statement is true that fear of being caught is the greatest fear of the shooters, should we reexamine fear and love motivations to reduce the shootings.

Obviously, gangs have figured out how to instill fear into potential witnesses not to testify. For example, recently a young pregnant woman was shot and killed av a result of a bounty after testifying as a witness against the shooting death of her friend.

My point is to question is to identify what occurred over time in our Nation’s History of Education that occurred to diminish both the fear of the law and the fear of God and who are the guilty parties to blame.

History of Education in the USA.

Over 100 years ago the USA government wisely decided that educateion of all children is a necessary factor for our Democratic Republic to survive over time. In order to implement mandatory education, lesiglators passed laws that all children must attend schools.

Over time The Supreme Court ruled teaching of religious values of Bible wisdom and love was unconstitutional and if parents wanted schools to teach religious values to teach children. Parents had the right to send them to private religious schools. However, they must continue to pay taxes to support both public and private schools

Over time, under government control of education the costs of education have risen significantly in proportion to livable wages and parents no longer could pay two tuitions. The result is mass closings of private religions school closings resulted in less education of Bible values of wisdom and love based on fear of God to prevail in our Nation.

In My Opinion

Over time, fear of the law became less effective because of the costs to maintain order with larger police presence, court and lawyer costs and costs to jail a growing population that either no longer feared either police or God.

If other parts of the Nation have guns but do not use them for unlawful purposes, it is obvious to me that lack of education to motivate lawful behavior must be a factor in the problem of shootings in Chicago and other parts in our Nation.

We need school choice or school vouchers to motivate the fear of the Lord instead of fear of the law which is obviously proven not to be as effective motivator to obey the laws of man or God.

While government legislators will believe and focus on other factors such as poverty and joblessness, equality, racism, and other factors, if we compare religious communities’ behaviors of religious fears being taught, the statistics of shootings are not the same.

Fear of the Lord was recognized as the beginning of wisdom to teach and motivate righteous behavior 3000 years ago according to the Bible and by both George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

You Decide

Who are the guilty parties that brought about how our Nation to forget God and educations of understanding in our present generation to teach religious values of past generations based on Bible teachings of fear of the Lord to motivate wisdom and love?

Would restoring parents to choose what values they want to be taught to their children instead of government in the form of school choice or school vouchers over time be a more effective means to motivate lawful behavior in our Nation especially in Black communities where parent choice is being ignored according to this comment.

“Black parents love charter schools and voucher-supported private school vouchers because they teach values, self-respect, and hope. But no, if this option for poor or lower-income parents has more Democrat opposition than ever.”

Can the City of Chicago already deep in debt afford to pay for witness protection for the thousands of shootings occurring in Chicago?
