Is the USA a Democracy or a Republic?
If you ask the above question on a street corner to random people walking by, my guess is the majority will answer the USA is a Democracy, when in fact it is a Republic.
The Purpose of This Post
Is to relate an ancient proverb to the question and why I believe our Nation’s Founders chose for the USA to be a Republic instead of a Democracy.
King Solomon – 3000 BC
Wisdom Calls Aloud
…25because you neglected all my counsel, and wanted none of my correction, 26in turn I will mock your calamity; I will sneer when terror strikes you,27when your dread comes like a storm, and your destruction like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish overwhelm you.
Socrates – 375 BC
“Socrates’s point is that voting in an election is a skill, not a random intuition. And like any skill, it needs to be taught systematically to people. Letting the citizenry vote without an education is as irresponsible as putting them in charge of a trireme sailing to Samos in a storm.”
What’s My Point?
If a person obtains a high school diploma and does not know that our founders chose the USA to a Republic instead of a Democracy, what does that say for the quality of civics education for voters in the USA?
What does that say for education if wisdom is not even a subject in public secular schools in the USA.
My point is our founders chose the USA government to a Republic instead of a Democracy for a reason which relates to wisdom and education needs and the foresight that for a government to succeed in the future based on the concepts of freedom, fairness, justice, and equality.
A Republic would have a better chance than a Democracy form of government for the same reasons Socrates figured out over 2000 years before the USA was founded.
In My Opinion
I read a blog post that claims 70% of Republicans do not believe the 2020 election was free and fair, according to a Politico/Morning Consult poll,
I wonder if the problem is lack of wisdom by the government politicians who ignored the Carter Baker report of 2005 is the core reason that 70 percent of 74 million people are disenfranchised because of their views of the election results.
Or in other words, have USA politicians managed to qualify the USA as a Banana Republic by not educating its citizens the wisdom to demand that the Carter Baker report be implemented.

You Decide
Will voters wise up and demand that the Carter Baker report be enacted to avoid the disenfranchise of the 2020 election results?
Will the ancient results of the USA described in the above proverbs result to the USA because we “because you neglected all my counsel, and wanted none of my (Wisdom) corrections?”
Or will the USA continue on a path to allow politicians and their campaign fund contributors manage to change the USA into a Bananna Republic, based on the riots and anarchy taking place in our streets, instead of what our Founders envisioned?

The report was actually called The Carter-Baker Report, but I guess your spellchecker was hungry.
It is interesting how the Greek philosophers were so skeptical of the wisdom of mankind and dreaded democratic rule, but Democrats welcome democracy. Apparently, they follow the teachings of someone like Karl Marx. Apparently, they have decided the masses are easily manipulated.

I would say that some of the masses are easily manipulated, I have faith in the God fearing people of our nation, who evidently, though it appears to me their will was nullified, are in the majority.

Well, I have faith in God. We can only hope and pray the American people will do the right thing. Whenever we put our faith in man, even our self, we will be disappointed.

I too have little faith in man, however it is possible in my experience for the heart’s of men to be profoundly influenced by their own faith in something greater

Tom,
” the masses are easily manipulated ” is an understatement in the USA if you consider how big the influences of Hollywood, news media, social networks on internet have become in the USA,.
I used to enjoy watching the coming attractions in the movies when I was a kid.
Can’t say the same now that I am an old guy in relation to the coming attractions we will be seeing on the news beginning next year.

Doug,
I corrected the spelling to Carter Baker.
You can read the links on Citizen Toms post in the Source links on my post.
I look forward to your comments after you have read the report as to whether you agree if our politicians would have done what the report advised, this election would have resulted in more trust of elections by everyone regardless of political party leanings or candidates.
