Would you agree the core reason for the following sad news articles are all the result one foolish political decision?

The Chicago Tribune articles with titles: “This is the time where people (with mental health problems) can bottom out,” and, “Unemployment claim fraud on the rise during pandemic”, and “Nursing home workers on strike for pay, safety,” and “US Jobless Claims rise to 742, 000 as pandemic worsens.

The Purpose of This Post

Is to relate an ancient prover as a clue to help interested readers to choose to solve the conundrum.

King Solomon

Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds; (Proverb 27:23)

What’s My Point?

If N95 masks were available to the general public, the risk of anyone becoming infected would have been reduce by a factor of 95 percent.

Because the pandemic is highly contagious the high the percentage of infected, the more infections incurred  results in a higher number of infections.

My point is since hospital personnel use N95 masks when treating COVID-19 patients and are safer for doing so, the fact remains that the shortage of N95 masks could have reduced the infectious rates of the pandemic by 95 percent.

Or people could have continued to travel, work, and there would been theoretically a 95 percent less need for unemployment checks which will exceed 3 trillion dollars io the National Debt and a significant less fatalities and hospital and insurance costs.

In My Opinion

I wrote a number of posts on the N95 masks which could or should have been avoided if our political leaders were wise enough to understand to watch over “the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds.”

However, the proverb advice was ignored all because of the major reason why N95 mask are still in short supply for the public one year later.

And in my opinion, it was because of politician’s decision to not watch over the interest of security for the American public and allow 90 percent of PPE equipment to be outsourced to a source 8000 miles away from the USA.

Or in other words to believe that manufacturing in the USA will never return statement by President Obama.

The result is what every experienced purchasing agent in the world has found out to be the truth according to the Purchasing 101 statement.

“Sometimes the cheapest price is not the best value.”

Frankly, it is not a conundrum once you understand and experience firsthand the wisdom of the meaning of total value to discern the true cost of any foolish decision we make in life.

You Decide

Should our politicians take a course in ancient proverbial wisdom to help them understand the answer to this conundrum originated 3000 years ago.

Or should they take a course in Purchasing 101 to understand the meaning of the advice, “Sometimes the cheapest price is not the best value.”.
