Will the decision of Disney be a prelude to the USA “wicked” end of free speech and a lie??
The Chicago Tribune had three articles which relate to the issue of free speech. The following statements were made which in my opinion all relate to the issue of Right to Free Speech.
“And so, what was missing in Joe Biden’s speech? A full-throated commitment to defending the core values of the Constitution and Bill of Rights, which include the right of all Americans to speak their minds without fear of retribution. And I don’t mean wing nuts calling for violence of any kind.”
“There is truth and there are lies. Not knowing the difference destroys minds.”
“Now the Trump-fueled insurrection at the U.S. Capitol has renewed calls for Disney to banish the 45th president. Should he stay or should he go? Neither. It’s time for Disney to put this attraction out to pasture.”
The Purpose of This Post
Is to relate an ancient proverb to the issue of free speech and the Disney exhibit.
King Solomon
If a ruler listens to lies, all his officials become wicked. (Proverb 29:12)
What’s My Point?
The future of the USA will be determined by Disney’s decision to either add President Trump’s robot on the stage or close it down.
My point is to relate this same question to the Right of Free Speech in the USA, lies, and wicked future for the USA robots.
In My Opinion
If Disney does decide to add the Trump robot or not is the same decision “to put free speech out pasture” in the USA.
And in the future make King Solomon’s proverb become a reality in our contemporary times.

You Decide
Will closing down the Disney exhibit be a wise or foolish decision by Disney and the USA, or a lie to end free speech and turn us into robots to be controlled by “wicked leaders”?

Editorial: Disney World should replace Hall of Presidents – Orlando Sentinel
It is clearly foolish, in my opinion.

Interesting dilemma for Disney. This isn’t so much a free speech thing as it is in accurately portraying the American experience in democracy. Apparently one of the concerns has been people with latent hatred for Trump might engage in some level of trying to deface or destroy his figure. To me it becomes one of Constitutionality. He was elected to office Constitutionally and left office Constitutionally… hence, the Constitutional process works in our democracy. If that’s the main message then maybe Disney can fit it in.. and just have the voiceover mumble something generic that sounds plausible to believe without offending anyone. Although.. if his image is just going to encourage a caustic viewing environment because his “era” is so fresh in our minds.. they might want to consider replacing the “Hall” with another patriotic display… (isn’t there an animatronic display somewhere of the Declaration signing?).
I’m not in much favor of “sanitizing” history from human traits. Then again… if the Senate convicts Trump down the line… you can’t get more “Scarlet Letter” than that, even if one might accept a double House impeachment. Does then Disney celebrate Trump as a presidential outcast.. and if so, how does that work for visitors to the happy kingdom? Might be mo0re of a business decision for them than anything else… whatever they decide to do.

Doug,
i agree except it is indeed an issue of freedom of speech. There is no way you can distort an act to remove history by blotting out Trump or any other figure in history which would include all his accomplishment and failures and say it does not violate the Right to Freedom of Speech..

You might want to remember when you and others want to jump on this ‘free speech being violated” bandwagon.. the Constitution only prescribes free speech as it relates to the limits of government… NOT any other aspect of American life… like business being able to determine what customers they will sell to. Disney is the same. Disney can portray history/democracy anyway they wish and if the public doesn’t buy into it then they choose not to visit the parks.. and maybe even initiate a public backlash that becomes a PR nightmare for them.

Doug,
So if twitter bans you or me from their “bandwagon” they can, even if it is not proven in a court that what was said is or is not a truth or a lie?
I’m confused?

Well, of course. I’ve been using that “wedding cake” case the Court upheld the baker did not have to sell to gay people. Businesses can select who they wish to serve… unless they are public utilities or connected with the government.

I’m not aware that the business even needs to provide a reason to the disappointed cusotmer.

Doug,
Good question, Should twitter, google, and Facebook be recognized as a public utility because everyone now uses them instead of the post office?
Progressives seem to think we need to have government progress by regulating school curriculums, why not these guys?

I leave that up to Congress… what Progressive want or don’t want means nothing unless they get support and representation in Congress. Don’t worry about Progressives. One less fear.

If Disney put up the exhibit depicting Presidents then President Trump shpoujd be there because it is factual information. Viewers have minds that decide I whom they like or other like. This is a form of free speech.
