Interested in what needs to be done to discern if a statement is the truth in our contemporary times vs. ancient times?

A Chicago Tribune article titled: Trump, fraud claims top CPAC bill, reported this following statements

“Because we pretty much wiped away scrutiny in a lot of these important swing states, you had a lot more illegal voting. That is not an opinion, that is fact,”

But in five dozen court cases around the country after the election, no such evidence was presented, and Trump’s then-attorney general, William Barr, said the Justice Department also had found none.

The Purpose of This Post

Is to relate ancient wisdom verses to provide a clue because news sources in our contemporary times are in need of ancient wisdom to help guide our Nation to discern the truth of an issue.

King Solomon

Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer. (Proverb 24:26 KJV)

Excerpt Gils – answers and gives his opinion of it faithfully, and pronounces a righteous sentence; everyone will love and respect him, (

The preparations of the heart belong to man, But the answer of the tongue is from the LORD. (Proverb 16:1)

“Excerpt Gils – all the works of a humble man are manifest with God”;

What’s My Point?

The above proverbs attest that truth was a problem to discern and judge in ancient times same as today.

King Solomon provided one clue in most recognized judgement was to order a baby in dispute to be cut in half to force the true mother to come forward.

In another Bible verse, King Solomon prayer gives another clue:  And Solomon said: “You have shown great mercy to Your servant David my father, because he walked before You in truth, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with You; (Kings 3:6)

Another clue in our contemporary times is the practice in Courts for witnesses to place their hand on a Bible and swear on a Bible to “tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.”

My point is to point out what is missing in the news reports from every news source, blog, tweet, etc. etc. to help a person discern what is the truth.

For Example

In the news report, the writer stated that Trump’s suits are false based on “court cases around the country after the election, no such evidence was presented,”

However, if we discern another article which stated “That’s a very short time window in which to collect clear evidence of fraud or irregularities great enough to change the outcome, to file lawsuits, and then to have them decided,” we have to wonder if Trump was allowed the time to provide the evidence of his lawsuits, would a Court have ruled in his favor?

Or in other words, should news sources making misleading reports that because the Courts did not receive proof which was impossible to obtain in the short time frame, make statements that “there was no evidence of fraud” when in fact, there was not sufficient time to prove there was evidence if Trump was allowed the time and resources to prove his claims of fraud?

So how can an average citizen discern the truth of any matter being reported in our contemporary times compared to what King Solomon used in ancient times.

In My Opinion

Discernment in ancient times in Israel had one advantage over our contemporary times and that was the belief and fear in a vengeful God was more prevalent than in our contemporary times.

Add that a King had authority to make a judgement to decide to end a life added a higher weight of fear of a witness to tell the truth.

However, in our contemporary times, religion is waning and religious beliefs are more forgiving for people to not fear spreading news or gossip in a Nation which is steeped on a Right to freedom of speech.

In my opinion, the clues in King Solomon verses are less weighted on fear and the only way now for an average person to discern truth from falsehood is no longer possible in our contemporary times.

As for the truth of any election, if legislators do not agree to provide more stringent requirements before the next election, we have to be fools to trust in the credibility of any future election based on what occurred in the 2020 election, in my opinion.

Or in other words, the foolish following statement will prevail.

“If things don’t change, they are going to remain the same”

You Decide

Is it possible for any average citizen to discern the truth of any news report in the USA when people have no fear, based on Spiritual or Civic beliefs and moral character of their responsibilities of the consequences of what they say, or forward in the present methods of spreading news in our contemporary times?

Would teaching children the Bible Commandments especially the Commandment “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour, help children when the grow up and become reporters to provide more discerning news reports or will Mark Twains’ following comment continue to divide instead of unite our Nation.

Mark Twain 1863

“A newspaper is not just for reporting the news as it is, but to make people mad enough to do something about it.”

“If you don’t read the newspaper, you’re uninformed. If you read the newspaper, you’re mis-informed.”
