What did the DuPage County Sheriff reveal about 80 % of his prisoners that should be an alarming wakeup call about the next circus act of folly in the coming future “under the sun in our Nation?
The Chicago Tribune article titled: Jail looks to expand addiction treatment, reported a revealing statement:
“Medication-assisted treatment is a natural fit for us,” he said. “It’s nothing that we ever would have been against.”
The Purpose of This Post
Is to relate an ancient proverb and a what a circus announcer is shouting out to reveal about what “hinges” in the next act to be witnessed in our Nation on this issue.
A door turns on its hinge, and a sluggard in his bed. (Proverb 26:14)
Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise. (Proverb 20:1)
and strong drink (or drugs in our contemporary times) not only disturbs the brain, and puts the spirits in a ferment, so that a man rages within, but it sets him a raving and quarrelling with his company, and everybody he meets with; such generally get into broils and contentions, and get woe, sorrow, and wounds, \
What’s My Point?
What the sheriff commented next should be a revealed to everyone who believe there is no harm in indulging in recreational drugs.
“Hendrick said 80% of inmates enter the jail with an addiction, often with mental health issues to boot.”
My point now that legal recreational marijuana has been legalized to make it readily available to more people, and medical studies state a significant number of users will digress to become drug addicts in time, will the tax revenues collected will be sufficient to pay for increase the sheriff and communities will experience in the future? Funds needed to treat or jail drug addicts for their predictable behaviors describe in a proverb observed and written 3000 years ago.
In My Opinion
This news report reminds me of the circus announcer introducing the next act in a circus
“you aren’t seen nothing yet”
In my opinion, the taxes the State will receive will never be sufficient to pay for the costs to treat the drug addictions that will result by making marijuana more available for recreational use.
Same as a hinge opens a door of folly to legalize one drug, we are reacting same as the sluggard turns Ove in bed to allow the door hinge to open to the next folly. That is to legalize small amounts of more addictive drugs such as heroin, methamphetamine, LSD, oxycodone: which Oregano legalized this year.
Yes, indeed sheriff and readers of this post, in my opinion, we “ain’t seen nothing yet” of the next legalized drug acts which will be performed in our communities in our Nation thanks to foolish legislators push open the door to legalize recreational marijuana.
