Should State Legislators and Supreme Court members Represent only State Districts that vote for him or her or should ……….?

The Chicago Tribune article titled: Supreme Court Districts targeted: reported the following statement:

“This is a total sham process, anti-democratic, done at the expense of Illinoisans,”

The Purpose of This Post

Is to relate an ancient verse, an oath, and personal opinion of a concept what a Democrat Republic is supposed to represent. While some may discern my suggestion as radical and foolish, others may consider it a wise common-sense proposal to settle politicians quibbling over redistricting to retain power rather than serve the oaths they take when elected into office.

King Solomon

“Obey the king’s (Constitution)command, I say, because you took an oath before God.” (Ecclesiastes 8:2).

Oath (Affirm) of Office in Illinois

“I do solemnly swear (affirm) that I will support the

Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution of

the State of Illinois, and that I will faithfully discharge

the duties of the office of …. to the best of my ability.”

What’s My Point?

The USA is a Democrat Republic rather than a Kingdom as when King Solomon ruled. Instead of Commands, legislators take an oath when they are elected to obey the Constitution.

The Illinois Constitution word uses affirmation instead of oath to God. In ancient times, a wise King was considered a blessing to a Nation. The above Ecclesiastes verse full context is as follows:

Who is like the wise man? Who knows the interpretation of a matter? A man’s wisdom brightens his face, and the sternness of his face is changed. Keep the king’s command, I say, because of your oath before God. Do not hasten to leave his presence, and do not persist in a bad cause, for he will do whatever he pleases.…(Ecclesiastes 8:1-3)

My point is the State of Illinois word is affirmation which differs from an oath which in my opinion makes for politicians to “do whatever he pleases, instead of God, which may or may not be wise accoding to the religious beliefs of the verses meaning.

For example, the lowest State of Illinois ranking of State debt is an affirmation of legislator’s wisdom or folly.

In My Opinion,

Ten years ago, my same following opinion was published on January 11,2012 in the Chicago Tribune Voice of the People about redistricting.

“Voter redistricting lines should run parallel to configure either square or rectangular districts except for State borders….  Illinois will be a be a better place when we all realize we are Illinoisians rather than a maze of political or ethnic interests that vote exclusively for self-serving interests….”

In other words, politicians should serve all of Illinois interests rather than setting up every ten years districts to be reelected.

Obviously, no one listened to my suggestion then, and now politicians in power are attempting to redistrict the Supreme Court to retain Constitution powers to serve political agendas.

You Decide

Should politicians be elected to serve Illinoisians or or be served by voters by changing voter districts to be preserved in elected offices?

Is Illinois the pinnacle State in the Union or otherwise because of the wise or foolish decisions made by affirmed politicians services to the voters they represent in their districts or (kingdoms?)
