Will Blinkten Pledge of USA of 500 million make you blink about the wisdom and folly of US foreign Aid policies?
The Chicago Tribune AP article titled: Blinken touts progress in effort to boost Gaza truce, reported the following statement:
“In Gaza, Hamas leader Yehiyeh Sinwar told journalists Wednesday that the group welcomed reconstruction aid, as long as it did not come from Israel, and had no objections to international oversight.”
““I emphasize our commitment in Hamas that we will not take a single penny earmarked for rebuilding or humanitarian issues,” he said.
The Purpose of This Post
Is to relate an ancient proverb, an idiom, and a psychology article, to question the wisdom and/or folly of USA foreign aid in the form of dollars.
If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. (Proverb 26:21)
Idiom – play someone for a fool
If someone plays you for a fool, they deceive you to get an advantage for themselves or treat you as if you are stupid.
Psychology Today – On Being Truly in Play
Why is playing with my dog fun for both of us but when I play around with worms, I’m the only one having fun? (I think, as far as I can tell.)”
“Satisfaction is the experiential accompaniment of intrinsic behavior or recognizing a good enough connection to something intrinsic. The achievement of intrinsic hedonic, prudent, ethical, and aesthetic aims is pleasurable and/or satisfying.
What’s My Point?
In a previous post on 5/23/2021 titled: 4000 Rockets Wisdom and Folly, I stated the following
“President Joe Biden was silent in this latest two-week conflict in the news supposedly brokered by Egypt. However, my guess he made agreement to promise more USA tax funding’s or threatened to remove same to end the conflict again.”
My point is when an average citizen like me can predict what the President of the USA will do to obtain a cease fire agreement, should we discern how simple it is for every “intrinsic hedonic, prudent, ethical, and aesthetic aims is pleasurable and/or satisfying” “to play the USA to obtain foreign aid in the form of dollars.
In My Opinion
The USA foreign aid policy changed from sending humanitarian aid in the form of food, medicines to dollars because it was easier or seemingly more practical in time for countries to buy items locally than to be transported from the USA.
The intrinsic purpose of King Solomon wisdom was to feed your enemies because they will be less likely to want to bite the hand that feeds them.
If we discern the Hama leaders’ statement to pledge that as long as aid comes from other parties other than Israel, it becomes apparent that Hamas understands the proverb concept.
However, the question arises to wonder if the USA foreign aid policy of sending dollars is contributing to Mid-East conflicts to be continue to be played out.
In my opinion, it is time to return USA foreign aid policy to limit to only sending provide medicine and food to the Mid-East because we are being played.
Are the USA foreign aid policies being played?
Should the USA end be sending any foreign aid in dollars and instead only sending medicine and food?
Or should USA buy food locally instead of trusting the dollars will be used for food and medicine instead of rockets?
Is it time to open our eyes and discern instead of keep blinking and sending dollars every time someone starts shooting rockets instead of finding solutions to end hostilities with between each other for thousands of years, over and over, and over again in every new generation?
