Where does the circle of violence begin in the lives of residents living in poor high crime urban areas?
The Chicago Tribune article titled: New Plaza a Beginning, reported a 1.5-million-dollar investment for a roller rink to be located in an area known for drugs being sold in the streets. The investment dollars are being funded from State profits from sales of recreational marijuana in Illinois.
The Purpose of This Post
Is to relate an ancient proverb, an idiom, a saying, and a hit song Circle of life to this conundrum question?
That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered. (Ecclesiastes 1:15)
Idiom – run in circles
To waste one’s time and energy engaging in trivial, aimless, or futile activities; to fail to make any meaningful progress in some task or activity.
Circle of Life Song Vs. Ecclesiastes Chapter 3 – Excerpt
“I think this section also indicates the relevance of what Solomon has to say in spite of how long ago it was written. Humans are still dealing with these dichotomies today, and by and large are not much better at it than we were when Solomon wrote Ecclesiastes.”
What’s My Point?
If we discern the Chicago Tribune article which contains various opinions on the pros and cons of building a roller rink in the middle of a high crime drug infested poverty neighborhood with investment funds from the State selling marijuana to the public supposedly to reduce profits from street gangs selling drugs, does it make us wonder where this circle of begins to bring about the factors and issues of what is causing poverty, high crime, and drug addiction in urban communities?
My point is if we never teach wisdom and love lessons of life learned from the good and bad experiences of previous generation to identify and relate to who is the real lion King of the universe, the circle of life based on a circle of folly only grow into a bigger circle?
In My Opinion
Our Government Lion Kings are running around in circles.
We need to return to the teaching children who is the wisdom and real Lion King of the Universe is to help dircct them at the beginning of their circle of life the wisdom and love directions in the Bible which led the founders of the USA dreams of freedom to write the beginning point of the First Amendment to include freedom of religion as a Right in their circle of life.
Same as every circle drawn has a beginning point. School choice of school vouchers is where we need to begin in my opinion.
If after reading the Chicago Tribune article of pros and cons, would you agree that a government study be made to compare if every convicted criminal attended a private religious or a secular school in grades 1 – 8, the most vulnerable and impressionable “beginning point” of time in every human’s circle of life that leads to wisdom or folly?
Would you concur with this saying can be related to about this issue of giving a rollar rink vs. giving an education?.
