Why did States approve recreational use of marijuana without FDA study to approve claims being made by sellers “snake oil” claims?
Many people remain unwilling, confused about, and being exposed to various claims about the enhancements of pain relief, sex, sleep, etc. etc. from the use of marijuana products marketing. While at the same time Covid vaccines have been approved by the FDA, the government agency charged with the responsibility as follows:
The Food and Drugs Act of 1906 was the first of more than 200 laws that constitute one of the world’s most comprehensive and effective networks of public health and consumer protections.
The Purpose of This Post
Is to relate an ancient wisdom verse, an idiom, and warning about snake oil sellers’ claims made which in the past government created for the following reason.
“The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act of 1938 was passed after a legally marketed toxic elixir killed 107 people, including many children. The FD&C Act completely overhauled the public health system. Among other provisions, the law authorized the FDA to demand evidence of safety for new drugs, issue standards for food, and conduct factory inspections.
The simple believe anything, but the prudent give thought to their steps. (Proverb 14:15)
Give alcohol to a man who is going to die, and wine to those who are sad, that they may drink and forget their poverty, and remember their misery no more. (Proverbs 31:6, 7)
15The toil of a fool wearies him, for he does not know the way to the city. 16Woe to you, O land whose king is a youth, and whose princes feast in the morning. 17Blessed are you, O land whose king is a son of nobles, and whose princes feast at the proper time—for strength and not for drunkenness. (Proverb 10:15,16)
What’s My Point’s?
State Governors mandated quarantines for businesses and private citizens to control the spread of Corona to control the spread of a harmful and deadly virus.
Many people still do not trust that the vaccines even though the FDA approved it to be scientifically evaluated for safety.
Yet, Government approved the use of recreational marijuana without FDA approval. While use is not as deadly as Corina to certain segments of society such as the elderly, it is prevented that a precent of users will become addicted to marijuana and perhaps neve lives to become elderly.
In My Opinion
I recently drove an 83-year-old elderly acquaintance to an approved marijuana seller in Illinois to by a product to rub on her feet to reduce the pain of her incurable age-related ailment which was approved for use by her physician.
The store was crowded with buyers at 2:00 PM on a weekday. While waiting outside the facility I started talking to a traffic guard was directing traffic into the parking lot to ask if marijuana would help my lower back pain which occasionally flares up from an old back muscle tear.
The sales pitch he gave me of how it would should qualify him to be a sales manager as he hyped marijuana uses to reduce pain from every pain imaginable “under the sun.”
Instead of paying $100 bucks, I went home and used a heating pad to relax the back muscle and took Motrin. In a few days my back pain was relieved and I still have my $100 in my possession instead of the seller’s pocket or the States hands to be used to treat drug addicts who may have become addicts by being introduced to recreational marijuana by legislators’ approval of circumventing FDA drug approval laws.
In my opinion, marijuana is a return of the snake oil salesman in the past.
As for how and why our State Governors signed to approve the sale of recreational marijuana without FDA approval which mandates a scientific study be made is beyond my comprehension.
Google any ailment with a question and see for yourself the numerous claims by nasalism claims are being spread to “the simple” that King Solomon referred to in his proverb. E.G. Will use of marijuana improve pain relief, sex, sleep, etc. etc.?
Was King Solomon wise in his proverb to advise giving wine (or anything else) to help people about to die, make you wonder if that perhaps marijuana use is going to help speed up the process?
Does the above proverb give advice about the possibility that Kings in the past or Governors now who signed to approve use of a drug product without the approval of the FDA are perhaps not too noble or wise?
Should anyone interested in using marijuana for recreational or perceived ailments use, check with your trusted physician who hopefully has no personal investments in the production and sales profits from marijuana. My physician did not approve its use for recreational purposes and warned me about the purposes long term effects of its use.
Can anyone answer why marijuana has never been approved by the FDA, yet has been approved by State Governors legally based on “snake oil” claims that it is harmless?
Did the legislators sales pitch that legalizing recreational marijuana would end illegal sales which already has proven to be a logical fallacy because most users who cannot afford the high prices buy it Government sellers continue to purchase for illegal or gangs selling it at lower prices because of not having to pay State taxes?
Is it a logical fallacy for legislators to pass laws to circumvent another government lawful agency supported by taxpayer funds in appease peer pressures from the simple, in a similar manner as a parent would allow their children to be influences by unlawful peer pressures?
Does this conundrum make us wonder if the reason people won’t take the Covid vaccine is because they do not trust the Government who manages the CDC and FDA agencies being funded with their taxes?
Is the following wisdom verse a logical fallacy in your opinion that seems to have occurred in every generation that has followed since it was written 3000 years ago and seems to have occurred again with the resurgence of snake oil salesman claims about recreational use of marijuana even though the FDA was enacted over 100 years ago in the USA?
What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.? (Ecclesiastes 1:9)
