Should anyone be surprised if hostage demands will be demanded by the Taliban?
The Chicago Tribune article titled: Taliban ground planes of evacuees, reported the Taliban will not allow flights which may include Americana cities to fly out of the airport.
The Purpose of this Post
Is to relate an ancient proverb and the origin of honorable terms of surrender, which may now be the reason for the Taliban not allowing the flights.
What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 1:9)
Surely you need guidance to wage war, and victory is won through many advisers. (Proverb 24:6)
History – Honorable Surrender – Excerpt
“Adversaries even exchanged prisoners in a reasonable and often rapid manner. The practices of ransom, parole, and exchange developed in the early modern period would have a long life in military law and practice.”
An Honorable Surrender – Excerpt
“A key to successful backout is to have a plan”.
Wikipedia – Surrender (Military) – Excerpt
“A surrender may be accomplished peacefully or it may be the result of defeat in battle. “
What’s My Point?
If after reading the above articles and comparing to the ancient advice, we should not be surprised if hostage ransoms of dollars or recognition are now being employed by the Taliban.
In My Opinion
Hopefully. President Biden as leader of the USA has delegated his appointed managers to have planned for this contingency and taxpayers will not have to pay ransoms or bow to other Taliban surrender terms and surrender agreements of Afghanistan to the Taliban made by the Biden administration other than leaving 80 billion dollars of USA supplied military equipment..
