What should be done when gun laws fail?
The Chicago Tribune article titled: Illegal Border Crossing, reported how guns stolen across the border in Wisconsin showed up in a Chicago crime withing 12 days.
A previous day article reported tracking one gun to be responsible for 27 shootings in Chicago.
The Purpose of This Post
Is to relate an ancient proverb to this seemingly unanswerable conundrum of passing gun laws which apparently are being followed only by lawful citizens gun holder, for interested readers to discern the simplest two most effective solution of what to do that has been proven effective in every society and culture in recorded history.
God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore. (Kings 4:29)
Instruct a wise man, and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man, and he will increase his learning. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For through wisdom your days will be multiplied, and years will be added to your life.…(Proverb 9:9-11)
What’s My Point?
There never has been as recorded in history any proven success that ended crime in any culture or society.
My point is there has been varying success in reducing crime by two proven methods, religion and fear.
In My Opinion
Why anyone believe that passing any law and not enforcing the law is going to change and eliminate crime is beyond my comprehension. Especially if we read up on the history of mankind brutality and wars engaged in past history especially in places and times when people gather in urban areas instead of vast open farming or hunting areas available in the past.
If people are never introduced or educated to believe and be instilled with fear of breaking either obey either God or human laws, humans and animals are going to do what they have always done since the beginning of time, which is steal, or kill from each other as proven in recorded history.
If something has happened before it will happen again as observed by King Solomon 3000 years ago when he wrote this verse which I surmise was in his later lifetime, after he himself fell victim to his own vanity failings in life.
What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 1:9)
In other words, if a person is arrested with a gun, it is folly to allow him or her to not fear punishment until a jury convicts them years later and in the interim, free the arrested person who broke the gun law back into a community to cause people in his community to fear testifying against him or her.
Has the two proven methods recorded in history and the Bible proven to be the two most successful motivations throughout history, which are Fear and Love.
If it is unlawful or unaffordable for parents to allow them to choose to be educated to be taught in depth to discern and hopefully be installed with the Fear and Love taught in private religious schools, will passing more gun laws to take away their only defense from criminals lead to the utopian envisioned by our present human methods of passing laws and not enforcing the laws ever going to end or reduce the shootings?
If one gun has been identified in 27 shootings, is it possible the gun only has one criminal pulling the trigger or is it being passed around by organized criminal gang members?
