Will the wean on circle continue to get bigger or smaller in the future?

The Chicago Tribune article titled: Pritzker Announces Overdose Action Plan, reported:

“In 2020, nearly 3,000 Illinois residents died of an opioid overdose, up 32.7% from 2019 and the deadliest overdose year on record in Illinois,”

The Purpose of This Post

Is to relate an ancient wisdom verse as an anology for interested readers as a clue to this conundrum.

King Solomon

The woman Folly is loud; she is undisciplined and without knowledge. She sits at the door of her house, on a seat at the highest point of the city, calling out to those who pass by, who go straight on their way.

“Let all who are simple come in here!” she says to those who lack judgment. “Stolen water is sweet; food eaten in secret is delicious!” But little do they know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of the grave (Proverbs 9:13 – 18).

(Many philosophers believe humans will experience two deaths in their lifetime. Death in body and death in Spirit.”

Idiom – Wean on (something)

. To accustom a person to something at great length from a very young age.

What’s My Point?

As children, we are introduced to drawing circles on paper. As time goes on and we become bigger and older we are able to both draw bigger circles on paper and enter bigger social and professional circles of life responsibilities and decisions. ‘

In other words, we are weaning on to something which may be have been nourishing such as mother milk to learn to be responsible decision makers on our paths, or circles in life.

My point is when a governing body weans us on to something that is pleasurable and dependence such as recreational use of marijuana, knowing full well that a certain percentage of users have been scientifically proverb to become addicted and dependent for drugs, the circle of folly will expand into bigger and bigger follies to burden communities’ funds to attempt to debilitate or prevent drug overdoses.

In My Opinion

Illinois approved to legalize recreational marijuana On May 31, 2019 the Illinois General Assembly passed the Illinois Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act to legalize recreational marijuana use starting on January 1, 2020.

All this accomplished was to introduce or wean on more drug susceptible persons to become hard core drug addicts and increase the ratio of drug overdoses.

The cycle of profits obtained by Illinois from the sales of recreational marijuana will in time not be sufficient to rehabilitate drug addiction, some wean on by Illinois approval of a host of new candidates to be introduced to recreational drugs only to progress to more hard-core drugs in time being sold by criminal sellers who supposedly, according Ing to legislators, were going to be put out of business when recreational drugs became available.

In other words, Illinois legislators increased the circle of drug folly in Illinois by weaning on more customers for criminals.

You Decide

Will the Illinois circle of folly continue to grow in the future, or smaller as was promised by legislators who promoted legalized recreational marijuana in Illinois?

Which future will lead uses of recreational drugs to an earlier or worse fate in deaths they may experience in life, deaths in body and/or Spirit?

Which women, Wisdom or Folly, in the above King Solomon proverb, called out to approve the sale of recreational marijuana in Illinois?

 Regards and goodwill blogging.
