What really, is the definition of wisdom?
I read a post this morning titled: What is wisdom, where the writer gave definitions and antonyms of wisdom and asked for readers opinions of her conundrum, “Really, what is wisdom.”
The post gathered 80 comments of interest which is very commendable for any blog.
I next read a blog titled: Friday Wisdom – Driving Cars, which is in essence wise advice based on a King Solomon wisdom proverb even though cars were not available 3000 years ago.
However, in my opinion what is missing in the comments or opinions in the What is Wisdom blog is the King Solomon meaning and purpose of wisdom root message.
The Purpose of This Post
Is to relate an ancient definition of wisdom to this conundrum according to a man who spent his life observing his subjects in belief his efforts would promote understanding knowledge that leads his wisdom.
Wisdom to cope in a world of madness and folly and hopefully benefit both personal and community with meaning and purpose in their lives as they experience the seasons in life which all end up on the same path of mortality regardless of wealth power, good or evil choices made by mortals.
“Fear God and keep his Commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
I recognized that there is nothing better than to be glad and do well during life. For every man, moreover, to eat and drink, and enjoy the fruits of all his labor is a gift from God.” (Ecclesiastes 2, 11-13)
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. (Proverb 17:22)
What’s My Point?
Definitions of wisdom have over time changed by human philosophers who have pondered the history of mankind and produced their perceptions of the purpose and meaning of life since the beginning of time.
Many, in our contemporary times perceive or believe wisdom is an accumulation of human experiences gathered over time that qualify to produce or conform to all the descriptions in the blog and comments.
My point is while all the definitions may be valid or true in varying degrees, if we discern and incorporated the above three verses into our lives, all the other definitions will apply.
In My Opinion,
If we focus on the above three verses every day in our lives, over time, we will find meaning and purpose in our lives to understand that anyone who believes life has no purpose and meaning will never understood the true definition of wisdom in their lifetimes.
