Where to go when harsh reality of life appears on our horizon?
After reading various articles in the Chicago Tribune reports today of current follies occurring in the past 24 hours, I decided to read posts of some of my blog followers.
Because frankly, it is apparent to me that we humans in both ancient and contemporary times need of advice from a source to provide us with inner strengths to bear the harsh reality of events we may experience in our lives.
I read three posts for clues to this conundrum.
First post: What is Inner Strength, gave practical advice.
Second post: Goodnight, go to the place of peaceful harmony, gave a brief Spiritual advice and an opinion.
Third Post: What the Bible says about Solomon’s Discontent and Frustration, focus on the writers’ thoughts about both practical and Spiritual explanations of the Book of Ecclesiastes in the bible
The Purpose of This Post
Is to relate an ancient proverb and a Bible verse to the conundrum question.
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (Proverb 3:5)
In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus says:
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
What’s My Point?
If we read all the articles which in essence give advice to humans seeking how to fortify themselves every morning and night with the harsh realities in life we may experience.
In My Opinion
We all need inner source of both practical and spiritual Wisdom and Love to cope in life.
Many will rely on strength of body only which will wane over time in age.
Others will make choices to use drugs, or engage psychologists, family, and friends to help them cope.
However, in my opinion, the best source to obtain inner strength to cope is the advice found in the Bible which leads to both practical and Spiritual Wisdom to cope in life based on trust in God and Faith.
Spiritual Faith that will lead us to obtain rest from sweet sleep, not drug induced sleep need because without rest, both our mind and body will over time weaken our inner physical strength.
This opinion is not new, it is based on the following King Solomon ancient proverbial advice.
Then you will journey in safety, and your foot will not stumble. If you are resting, no fears will trouble you. When you lie down, sweet sleep will come to you. (Proverb 3:23).
