Why should parents have to pay two tuitions, one to fund public secular schools for their entire life on their real-estate assessment, and one if they choose to send their children to a private school

The Chicago Tribune article titled: Christian School with ties to Awake Illinois ready to open, reported this statement:

“I think parents are becoming more in touch with the nature of education. What are they learning? How are they learning? What’s going on?” he said.

Classical school is kind of a retro movement, he said. “Let’s go back to the way things were when kids read classic literature and were taught writing skills. We teach grammar, spelling and cursive writing — all those things that used to be really highly prized,” he said.

“Rather than putting devices in the hands of kids in the classroom, his teachers encourage students to speak and to understand the ideas that led to the creation of technology, he said.”

The Purpose of This Post

Is to relate  ancient proverbs to this conundrum and to compare the present cost taxpayers pay to attend a public secular school vs a private school.

King Solomon

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Proverb 22:6)

Hear, my son, your father’s instruction, and forsake not your mother’s teaching, for they are a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck. (Proverb 1:8-9)

What’s My Point?

In our contemporary times when both fathers and mothers time is limited to teach their children. In ancient times fathers worked side by side to farm or business and mothers mainly taught children at home instead of government public schools.

Everyone agrees in our contemporty times both children and our Nation will benefit more with its citizens are educated to be successful to support themselves which in turn benefits a Nation economically and provide qualified leaders to manage our Nation.

However, over time, religious beliefs and morals are waning in the USA because as the cost of tuition in private religious schools has risen and is no longer affordable for many  families both poor and middle class to send their children to private schools.

If we compare what the private school tuition is to a public-school cost in Naperville Illinois to make a point that any service offered by government will over time cost more than private services.

Many parents send their children to public schools because they are free of tuition but in fact are not free as anyone who looks at their real estate tax bill, whether the own or rent, they are paying.

My point is why should parents not have a choice to be allowed school vouchers to choose what school they want their children to be sent when all they have to do is vote for legislators who support school choice, especially when the costs for tuition are lower than public schools, over time their real estate school assessments should be lower.

Add that test scores for children that attend private schools are on average higher than public schools.

In My Opinion

The cost for the private school in the Naperville is $12,481 per year vs Naperville public schools of $19,641 per student.

The Supreme Court in 2020 ruled that the State Laws enacted after the Civil War which prevent States from providing private schools was unconstitutional. All that is required now in Illinois is to elect legislators to support school choice or school vouchers.

You Decide

Is it time for parents to be allowed to choose what schools they believe are a better choice of education for their children?

Would school choice or school voucher allow all parents to have the same choice that most politicians and 40 percent of public-school teachers now choose.

Would teaching religious moral values, perhaps over time help reduce crime in the future that we are now experiencing by people who have no reservations about engaging in crime or shooting a human being if they were taught the religious belief in youth the Commandment, thou shalt not kill (murder) that we read about is happening in the news every day in our Nation?

Why should parents. because they are either not satisfied with the quality of education being provided and/or want their children to be taught their religious values in depth according to their First Amendment rights of freedom of religion?

Regards and goodwill blogging.
